I'm presuming wool fat is really only for the solos/duos as it could get messy for team swimmers?
Thanks.

We are thrilled to have you be a part of the
inaugural Hotel Rottnest Port to Pub swim on
19 March 2016. It has taken more than two
years to plan the first Hotel Rottnest Port to Pub
swim, and our hope is that it becomes a major
event on the local, national and international
swimming calendar. We are very proud of what
we are able to offer the swimming community;
the opportunity to swim across the Rottnest
Channel to iconic Rottnest Island in a world-class
swimming event.
60 years ago, swimming across the Rottnest
Channel would have seemed almost impossible.
At the time most of the swimming around Perth
was done in the river, at the various baths and
Swim Through competitions. German immigrant
Gerd von Dincklage-Schulenberg took on the
challenge as part of a bet, and, on 24 January
1956, completed the crossing in 9 hours and 45
minutes. Well known press launch, Hiawatha,
accompanied the swim, filled with media and
members of the Western Australian Amateur
Swimming Association (WAASA).
Gerd’s swim inspired the now defunct Weekend
Mail newspaper to organise the first official race
across the channel, and a chance to beat Gerd’s
time. Qualifying swims were held in the river a
week before the race. Nine swimmers qualified
- Trevor Seaborn, Tony Rigoll, Mel Andrew,
Harry Lapelaars, Neil Earl, George Winning, Les
Stewart, Howard Bowra and Toby Regan.
